    Engineered to Hold the Heat

For a large outdoor sauna, insulation is more than a detail — it is fundamental to performance, especially in colder climates.

Heat naturally rises, making roof insulation particularly important. That is why Northollen takes a comprehensive approach, combining 360° insulation, a layered roof structure, and double-glazed windows to help retain warmth throughout the entire space.

    360° Thermal Insulation

Insulation extends across the roof, floor, side walls, and rear wall, creating a comprehensive thermal barrier. Approximately 176 lbs of insulation material is integrated into the structure to help reduce heat loss in every direction.

A Roof Built for Heat Retention

The roof receives special attention. Insulation is placed within the layered timber structure, while an external rubber roofing membrane provides an additional layer of weather protection. Together, these layers help limit heat loss through the roof while protecting against the elements.

    Double-Glazed Windows

Large windows connect the interior with the surrounding landscape while maintaining thermal performance. Northollen features an advanced double-layer glazing system, with double-glazed glass panels on both the interior and exterior sides, creating a total glazing thickness of approximately 4.6 inches. This multi-layer construction helps reduce heat transfer, improve insulation, and retain warmth in colder climates without compromising the expansive outdoor views.
